Mentor Profile
Lance Zmoyro
Biography:
I am passionate about supporting new immigrants in their educational journey, which is why I dedicate my time as a volunteer ESL tutor at NPREMA. Since 2023, I have been actively involved in tutoring middle school, high school, and college-level students primarily from Ukraine.
While I enjoy conducting research in the Computational Neuroethology Lab at Rutgers, where I delve into AI-based approaches to scale rodent behavior, I find equal fulfillment in helping immigrants navigate their academic challenges. My role involves not only improving their English language skills but also providing comprehensive academic support across various subjects. Whether clarifying concepts in math, guiding through essays in English literature, or ensuring comprehension of classroom lectures, I am committed to fostering a supportive learning environment.
Through my volunteer work, I aim to empower immigrants by equipping them with the linguistic and academic tools necessary for success in their academic pursuits and beyond.
