Position: Advocacy and Outreach Coordinator (Volunteer)

Overview: The Advocacy and Outreach Coordinator will work closely with the organization's leadership team to advance advocacy efforts on behalf of pre-med students. This is an unpaid volunteer position that will require approximately 10-15 hours per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement advocacy strategies and campaigns to advance the organization's goals in the areas of education, mental health, diversity and inclusion, research and innovation, community engagement, healthcare policy, career development, technology and innovation, global health, medical ethics, and professionalism.

  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including pre-med students, medical professionals, policymakers, and community leaders.

  • Develop and distribute educational materials, such as newsletters, fact sheets, and social media content, to increase awareness and engagement on key issues.

  • Organize and facilitate events and activities, such as webinars, workshops, and community service projects, to promote the organization's mission and engage with key stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with the organization's leadership team to track and evaluate the effectiveness of advocacy efforts and adjust strategies as needed.

Requirements:

  • Passion for advancing the organization's mission and a deep understanding of the issues facing pre-med students.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop compelling content for a variety of audiences.

Position: Membership and Website Engagement Coordinator (Volunteer)

Overview: The Membership and Website Engagement Coordinator will work closely with the organization's leadership team to increase paid memberships on the website and improve the overall member experience. This is an unpaid volunteer position that will require approximately 10-15 hours per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to increase paid memberships on the website, including targeted marketing campaigns, special promotions, and referral programs.

  • Create and maintain engaging and interactive content for members on the website, including articles, videos, and other multimedia resources.

  • Develop and implement programs to recognize and reward members for their engagement and contributions to the organization, such as member appreciation events and member-only discounts.

  • Collaborate with the website development team to identify and implement improvements to the website that enhance the user experience and increase member engagement.

  • Monitor website analytics and user feedback to identify opportunities for improvement and make data-driven decisions to optimize the website and increase member engagement.

  • Collaborate with the organization's leadership team to track and evaluate the effectiveness of membership and website engagement efforts and adjust strategies as needed.

Requirements:

  • Passion for advancing the organization's mission and a deep understanding of the issues facing pre-med students.

  • Strong marketing and communication skills, including experience in creating engaging and persuasive marketing campaigns and developing compelling content for a variety of audiences.

  • Experience in website development, user experience design, and website analytics.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) tools and membership management systems is a plus.

This position would be ideal for someone with experience in marketing, website development, or customer engagement, and a passion for advancing the organization's mission and goals.

Position: Peer Tutor/Mentor (Volunteer)

Overview: The Peer Tutor/Mentor will work closely with pre-medical students to provide academic support and guidance in a variety of subjects, including biology, biochemistry, chemistry, physics, and MCAT preparation. This is an unpaid volunteer position that will require a time commitment of at least 3 hours per week for one academic semester.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions to pre-medical students in a variety of subjects, based on the tutor's area of expertise and interest.

  • Help students to develop study strategies and effective test-taking techniques to improve their academic performance.

  • Provide feedback on written assignments, including essays and personal statements, and assist students with developing effective writing skills.

  • Serve as a coach and mentor to pre-medical students, providing guidance and support in navigating the challenges of the pre-medical journey.

  • Collaborate with the organization's leadership team to develop and implement academic support programs and resources for pre-medical students.

  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance tutoring and mentoring skills.

Requirements:

  • Strong academic record in relevant pre-medical courses, including biology, biochemistry, chemistry, physics, and MCAT preparation.

  • Passion for helping pre-medical students succeed and a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing pre-medical students.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Prior tutoring or mentoring experience is preferred.

  • Availability to commit at least 3 hours per week for one academic semester.

Research and Editorial Lead

(Volunteer)

Job Description: We are seeking a highly motivated Pre-Med with a Bachelor's degree to join our team as a Data Collection and Editorial Lead. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing our data collection initiatives, managing our team of high school data interns, and contributing to the editorial content of our website. You will work closely with the Curriculum Development Coordinator and Youth Outreach Director to ensure the accuracy and integrity of our data, as well as collaborate with our creative team to produce engaging content for our website.

Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead data collection initiatives and manage high school data interns

  • Oversee the accuracy and integrity of data collected

  • Analyze and interpret data to inform decision making

  • Contribute to editorial content for our website

  • Collaborate with creative team to produce engaging content

  • Stay up-to-date on trends and developments in the pre-med field

  • Create engaging and meaningful content for social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn, that promotes the organization's initiatives and engages its audience.

  • Monitor and respond to comments and messages on social media channels in a timely and professional manner.

  • Collaborate with a team of college students to create and post content regularly on social media channels, ensuring a consistent voice and tone across all channels.

  • Analyze social media metrics and adjust social media strategy as needed to optimize engagement and audience reach.

Position: Mentorship Program Director (Volunteer)

Overview: The Peer Tutor/Mentor Program Director will be responsible for overseeing the peer tutoring/mentoring program, including recruitment, training, and supervision of volunteer tutors/mentors. This is an unpaid volunteer position that will require a time commitment of at least 5-7 hours per week for two years.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive peer tutoring/mentoring program for pre-medical students, including the recruitment, training, and supervision of volunteer tutors/mentors.

  • Collaborate with other volunteers and the leadership team to design and implement initiatives that support the academic success of pre-medical students.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with pre-medical student organizations and other campus stakeholders to promote the program and recruit volunteers.

  • Lead the development and delivery of tutor/mentor training sessions to ensure that volunteers are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to provide effective academic support.

  • Maintain an up-to-date database of volunteer tutors/mentors, including their qualifications, availability, and areas of expertise.

  • Match incoming pre-medical students with appropriate peer tutors/mentors based on their academic needs and the tutor's qualifications.

  • Monitor the progress of pre-medical students and provide ongoing support and feedback to volunteer peer tutors/mentors.

  • Track the hours of volunteer peer tutors/mentors and maintain accurate records of their service.

  • Provide letters of recommendation and other verifications of volunteer service to outside agencies as needed.

  • Oversee the evaluation and continuous improvement of the program.

  • Collaborate with the leadership team to develop and implement strategies to improve the effectiveness and reach of the pre-medical tutoring/mentoring program.

Requirements:

  • Strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to recruit, train, and supervise volunteer tutors/mentors effectively.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of individuals and stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of pre-medical courses, study skills, and test-taking strategies.

  • Prior experience in coordinating or managing a tutoring/mentoring program is preferred.

  • Availability to commit at least 5-7 hours per week for two years.
